The coating is the key to the long-term use of LED!
With the booming development of LED and solid-state lighting industries, product developers are applying technology to harsh environments(such as industrial lighting, building lighting, marine environments, etc.),so the use of coatings to protect LED and circuit components has become inevitable.
In order to protect the top of the LED display screen, the coating used must have good transparency and remain clear throughout the entire lifespan of the product in the required environment. If used outdoors, the coating may need to have good UV stability. In addition,in addition to considering the impact of coatings on LED transparency,it is also necessary to understand the impact of coatings on color temperature.
The common LED protective coatings are resin based materials, which provide stronger protection in terms of mechanical effects, but they are not as flexible as other coatings, and the coating thickness is relatively thick(25-75um),which may lead to problems during thermal cycling.Although the resin protective coating is quite thick, gas can still pass through the resin coating and penetrate the LED,resulting in a decrease in its performance over time.In addition, resin coatings can increase in depth by 1-2 millimeters or deeper, which seriously affects the color temperature of LEDs and cannot provide clarity and color stability. Therefore, when selecting appropriate protective materials, careful consideration should be given.
